The most frequent question is how long does the effect of botulinum toxin last. Based on our long experience, we can say the length of the effect varies with each individual and depends mainly on the dose size. The effect usually starts 3-7 days after the application and lasts about 3-6 months. After repeated applications, the effect may sometimes be longer.

However, even botulinum toxin may have some drawbacks. In some clients, the body produces an antidote against botulinum toxin after repeated applications. It may completely eliminate the effect of the next application. Long-term observations have revealed, that this process occurs more often in high doses over 300 units per one application or in repeated applications in a shorter period less than one month. However, we recommend neither such frequency of repetitions nor volumes over 300 units.

What is botulinum toxin?

The effective substance is called botulinum toxin type A which reduces muscle tension. Small doses are applied to selected facial mimic muscles to eliminate their function temporarily. It results in a reduction of mimic wrinkles in the face. The treated muscle resumes its function after some time.

Botulinum toxin has a similar effect on sweat glands, which is used to reduce sweating. Do not be afraid. Botulinum toxin is safe.

It is usually applied in doses ca 25 units per one session.
